Tips for Maintaining Castors

Are you experiencing a failure with your towline, platform cart, or other material handling equipment? Do you know the possible reason why this problem occurs? Actually, failure with that equipment may be caused by a worn-out castor. You can easily see it by just inspecting it visually. If you have equipment that has a worn-out castor wheels, replacing it will be the only option that you can choose to fix the problem. So, before we get to that situation, let’s first know some tips on maintaining castors to prevent those uncertainties that may happen.
·         Inspect the fasteners- It is highly recommended that you should inspect periodically the fasteners and wheel frames of the castor to be sure that nothing is wrong.
·         Check the Wheels- See to it that there are no signs of tread wear or flat spot. If there is, then it is very important for you to replace it right away.
·         Lubricate the grease fittings- Have a consistent schedule for lubrication. The grease fittings should be lubricated every after 6 months but if it is used in damp application, you’’ need to lubricate it more often.
